Jewels of the Oasis

Jewels of the Oasis is a volunteer bellydance troupe that performs in Richmond and throughout the Central Virginia area. Although the troupe performs primarily in nursing and retirement homes, its bellydancers provide fun, family-oriented entertainment for bellygrams, parties, weddings, haflas, restaurants and charity benefits.
The troupe dances in nursing homes and also performs at charity benefits, educational events, professional shows and festivals.
There are a wide variety of skills among the members, who range from beginners to professionals.

About Us
Jewels of the Oasis was formed in 1987 in Richmond, VA by a group of students taking belly-dancing classes with the local instructor, Sheva. When their teacher sent them to nursing homes to practice their techniques, the ladies decided to form their own troupe and named it Jewels of the Oasis.
The Jewels do not teach or sponsor classes, although most of our members take classes from professional teachers in the Richmond area. If you want to take bellydance classes check out our Dance Links section to learn where you can take classes.
